Requirements
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in Government, Government Affairs, Public Affairs, or Policy.
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. health care system finance, payment structures, and benefit design.
- Consistent record in identifying policy trends affecting public health.
- Proven ability to plan and execute comprehensive government affairs strategies.
- Experience in a pharmaceutical company or healthcare trade association preferred.
- Demonstrated project team orientation and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Strong business acumen and professionalism.
- Ability to influence outcomes at all levels of management.
- Solution-oriented with strong attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 50%.
Responsibilities
- Monitor state legislation and regulatory activities to advise on policy proposals and potential impacts.
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives and policy positions to shape state policy.
- Perform direct lobbying and engage third-party groups and coalitions.
- Develop both proactive and reactive policy agendas to support the company pipeline.
- Assess the public policy environment and provide recommendations for company action.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key state and regional stakeholders.
- Form stakeholder partnerships and advocacy coalitions to advance mental health awareness and patient access.
- Collaborate with internal cross-functional stakeholders to align public policy with commercial and regulatory objectives.
