Experience: 7+ years practicing law

Requirements

JD from an accredited law school.
Active law license in good standing in at least one jurisdiction.
7+ years of legal practice at a large firm, fintech, neobank, or bank.
Deep expertise in federal and state credit card or personal lending law.
Comprehensive understanding of FDCPA, state debt collection law, SCRA, Regulation Z, Regulation B, and UDAAP.
Expertise in debt sales regulation, true lender doctrine, bankruptcy law, FCRA, MLA, TCPA, network rules, and AML/BSA and fraud requirements.
Strong track record of managing and prioritizing multiple, shifting projects.
Independent analytical judgment and strategic decision-making capability.
Strong communication skills for briefing frontline teams and senior leadership.
Ability to travel approximately once per quarter for 2 to 5 days.

Responsibilities

Own day-to-day legal advice on collections, recoveries, and servicing.
Negotiate and close contracts with debt sale counterparties, vendors, and technology providers.
Track legal and regulatory developments, particularly concerning AI in customer-facing tools, and ensure compliant implementation.
Partner with business, Compliance, and Risk teams on new initiatives, consumer communications, and internal process improvements.
Anticipate business direction to proactively flag legal risks and opportunities.
