Requirements
- J.D. from accredited U.S. law school or equivalent foreign degree.
- 5-7 years experience with legal review of go-to-market, fundraising, technical products or online services.
- Experience with product, privacy, marketing, and other internet law issues.
- Experience advising a user-facing digital technology or internet company as in-house counsel.
- Significant experience working with engineering colleagues as a counselor and advisor.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Full fluency in written and spoken English.
- A deep commitment to a free and open internet and the Wikimedia mission.
- Sound judgment to handle complex projects independently in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities
- Analyze regulations related to marketing, customization, and fundraising initiatives.
- Collaborate with legal and policy teams to address the impact of Generative AI.
- Identify opportunities to advance the Wikimedia mission within complex technological and legal landscapes.
- Support Product and Engineering teams in developing a data governance model.
- Maintain high privacy standards for user-facing features and reader engagement.
