Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data analytics, data operations, category mapping, or consulting.
  • 4+ years of experience leading teams of 10+ people.
  • 2+ years of experience managing team leaders.
  • 2+ years of experience working with SQL, Python, or PySpark.
  • Familiarity with GitHub and Databricks.
  • Demonstrated ability to build systems, metrics, and processes that scale.
  • Proven track record of hiring, building training programs, and developing team leaders.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and building functions from scratch.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong ownership mentality and enthusiasm for impact.
  • Experience with product taxonomies, categorization systems, or e-commerce data (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Own operational leadership and accountability for the Product Classification organization.
  • Build and own the metrics framework that holds every team member accountable for classification accuracy, throughput, and quality.
  • Establish clear performance standards, SLAs, and escalation paths across the Data Classification and Data Quality teams.
  • Run a rigorous operating cadence including standups, reviews, and retrospectives to drive continuous improvement.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop high-performing Data Classification Analysts.
  • Create onboarding programs and training curricula to accelerate team ramp time.
  • Oversee the development of scalable analytic checks and refine LLM prompts based on error patterns.
  • Partner with Engineering and Product Management to improve LLM-driven classification systems.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to replace or augment manual classification workflows.
