Requirements

  • Minimum of five years working as an admissions officer/reader at a selective college, high school counselor, or independent counselor.
  • Thorough understanding of high school curriculum, AP, IB, and standardized tests (ACT, SAT).
  • Expertise in application platforms including Common App, Coalition App, and Apply Texas.
  • Expert knowledge of Naviance, Scoir, and other college admissions software.
  • Proven track record placing students in selective colleges and prestigious extracurricular opportunities.
  • Deep knowledge of financial aid processes and scholarship options.
  • Experience working with 7th-12th grade students, transfer applications, and boarding school applicants.
  • Familiarity with academic programs like DECA, Science/Math Olympiads, and STEM competitions.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • M.Ed. or Ph.D. in education is considered an asset (Extra Credit).

Responsibilities

  • Guide families and mentor students through the entire admissions process.
  • Review student curriculums, internship options, and extracurricular activities.
  • Develop strategies for Early Decision, Restrictive Early Action, Early Action, and Regular Decision applications.
  • Create individualized plans for course selection, academic interest exploration, and summer programs.
  • Conduct ongoing research on school profiles, course catalogs, and academic programs.
  • Help students differentiate their applications and build unique portfolios.
