Minimum of 5 years physician coding experience (recent hands-on production), with at least 3 years of recent coding in the specialty of Cardiology IR and Vascular.

Requirements

  • High School diploma; Associate or BS degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of recent physician coding experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of recent coding experience in Cardiology IR and Vascular.
  • Active AHIMA or AAPC professional certification (e.g., CCS-P, CPC) in good standing; CPC-A is not accepted.
  • CIRCC credential required.
  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and disease processes.
  • Expertise in CPT coding and guidelines, ICD-10-CM, and surgical techniques.
  • Familiarity with Medicare (CMS/MAC) and Medicaid billing policies for professional services.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows).
  • Ability to work with electronic healthcare record and billing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Review and accurately code Cardiology IR/CV Surgery and E/M cases to maximize reimbursement in a timely manner.
  • Review and accurately code E/M visits and office procedures.
  • Work independently to research and resolve coding scenarios.
  • Meet daily production goals and a 95% quality accuracy rate.
  • Participate in conference calls to provide information and feedback.
  • Communicate with leadership regarding coding or documentation issues and trends.
  • Stay current on coding guidelines, including specialty-specific standards.
  • Maintain professional credentials and participate in department education meetings.
