Requirements
- High School diploma; Associate or BS degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of recent physician coding experience.
- Minimum 3 years of recent coding experience in Cardiology IR and Vascular.
- Active AHIMA or AAPC professional certification (e.g., CCS-P, CPC) in good standing; CPC-A is not accepted.
- CIRCC credential required.
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and disease processes.
- Expertise in CPT coding and guidelines, ICD-10-CM, and surgical techniques.
- Familiarity with Medicare (CMS/MAC) and Medicaid billing policies for professional services.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows).
- Ability to work with electronic healthcare record and billing systems.
Responsibilities
- Review and accurately code Cardiology IR/CV Surgery and E/M cases to maximize reimbursement in a timely manner.
- Review and accurately code E/M visits and office procedures.
- Work independently to research and resolve coding scenarios.
- Meet daily production goals and a 95% quality accuracy rate.
- Participate in conference calls to provide information and feedback.
- Communicate with leadership regarding coding or documentation issues and trends.
- Stay current on coding guidelines, including specialty-specific standards.
- Maintain professional credentials and participate in department education meetings.
