Requirements

  • Direct experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading differences with documented reading gains.
  • Training in structured literacy programs such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or LETRS.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, special education, reading, speech-language pathology, or a related field.
  • Ability to interpret assessment data to identify appropriate instructional steps.
  • Ability to communicate instructional plans clearly to staff and parents.
  • Understanding of the demands of competitive youth athletics.
  • Experience in a fully remote setting is preferred.
  • Certification as a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) or similar is a plus.
  • Background in sports or athletics is a plus.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-on-one and small-group sessions over video using an evidence-based, structured literacy approach.
  • Work directly with students on decoding, fluency, spelling, and reading comprehension.
  • Use running records and other reading assessments to track growth and adjust instructional plans.
  • Collaborate with academic guides and athletic coaches to ensure consistent application of accommodations.
  • Provide regular updates to parents on progress and coach them on reinforcing reading work at home.
  • Support students in utilizing assistive tools like text-to-speech and audiobooks in an online environment.
