Requirements
- JD degree with admission to a state bar.
- At least 5 years of relevant legal and/or government relations experience.
- At least 2 years of experience working in state or federal government.
- Experience engaging legislators and government regulators.
- Ability to work under pressure, autonomously, and meet tight deadlines.
- Bias toward action and solving problems.
- Excellent communication and writing abilities.
- Ability to engage with and interpret government data from databases.
- Experience working cross-culturally and with diverse, global teams.
- Ability to travel throughout the United States.
Responsibilities
- Identify specific legislative and regulatory goals in various states.
- Engage with state and federal lobbyists to draft proposed legislation and regulations.
- Create coalitions with other stakeholders who share our vision for legislative and regulatory change.
- Monitor relevant state and federal legislation and regulatory changes.
- Work with business teams to implement required legislative and regulatory changes after risk analysis.
- Provide legal advice to business teams across a range of issues and topics.
- Prepare responses to regulator inquiries.
- Manage contracts with outside counsel.
- Lead external relations campaigns to engage stakeholders on advocacy issues.
- Analyze and provide guidance on evolving rules, regulations, and compliance trends.
