Requirements

  • JD degree with admission to a state bar.
  • At least 5 years of relevant legal and/or government relations experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in state or federal government.
  • Experience engaging legislators and government regulators.
  • Ability to work under pressure, autonomously, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Bias toward action and solving problems.
  • Excellent communication and writing abilities.
  • Ability to engage with and interpret government data from databases.
  • Experience working cross-culturally and with diverse, global teams.
  • Ability to travel throughout the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Identify specific legislative and regulatory goals in various states.
  • Engage with state and federal lobbyists to draft proposed legislation and regulations.
  • Create coalitions with other stakeholders who share our vision for legislative and regulatory change.
  • Monitor relevant state and federal legislation and regulatory changes.
  • Work with business teams to implement required legislative and regulatory changes after risk analysis.
  • Provide legal advice to business teams across a range of issues and topics.
  • Prepare responses to regulator inquiries.
  • Manage contracts with outside counsel.
  • Lead external relations campaigns to engage stakeholders on advocacy issues.
  • Analyze and provide guidance on evolving rules, regulations, and compliance trends.
