Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Accountant OR Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with minimum 3 years of Accountant experience.
- Proficiency in GAAP and applicable laws/regulations.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (advanced formulas, SUMIFS, VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables).
- Mastery of core organizational accounting functions such as IBNR, Medicare estimates, or regulatory reporting.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to articulate and present financial information.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with auditors, actuaries, and regulatory agencies.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- CPA license (preferred).
- Experience in health insurance or public accounting (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Prepare routine to complex general ledger journal entries and calculate large estimates.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations and maintain GL support.
- Develop, maintain, and run financial reports in reporting software and Excel.
- Prepare external financial reporting including regulatory filings and tax filings (990, 990T, CT-12).
- Support year-end audit requests and assist in audited financial statement preparation.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal departments and external entities.
- Identify and implement process improvements with minimal supervision.
