Requirements
- Current Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP).
- 2 years of experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Experience working with adults in need of general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.
- Experience and comfort working with patients across the lifespan (ages 13+).
- Experience in Addiction and Mental Health.
- Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and substance abuse dual-diagnoses.
- Experience with Motivational Interviewing.
- Proficiency in EHR documentation and ability to conduct comprehensive assessments.
- Comfort with technology, including telehealth software and video communication.
- Willingness to obtain additional state licensures.
- Active DEA registration required for Florida or New York licensed clinicians.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients' mental and physical status based on presenting symptoms and complaints.
- Diagnose psychiatric disorders and mental health conditions.
- Conduct individual psychotherapy for patients with chronic or acute mental disorders.
- Prescribe psychotropic medications and educate patients on risks, benefits, and side effects.
- Order diagnostic tests such as EKGs and lab work as needed.
- Monitor patient behavior, medication usage, and treatment effectiveness.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to evaluate treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and national standards of care.
