Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as an immigration legal assistant or paralegal.
- Direct exposure to asylum cases and immigration court filings.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience preparing Form I-589 (affirmative and defensive).
- Hands-on experience with Immigration Court pleadings and motions.
- Solid knowledge of EOIR Practice Manual requirements and USCIS filing procedures.
- Professional bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
- Experience with removal proceedings and relief applications such as TPS and Adjustment of Status.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple competing deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Familiarity with case management software (e.g., MyCase, Clio).
- Experience with EOIR Electronic Filing System and USCIS online portals.
Responsibilities
- Prepare complete affirmative and defensive Form I-589 asylum applications and supporting filing packets.
- Draft and file Immigration Court pleadings and motions including continuances, change of venue, and fee waivers.
- Prepare various benefit applications such as TPS, Adjustment of Status, and Cancellation of Removal.
- Assemble hearing packets and exhibit binders in compliance with EOIR and USCIS standards.
- Maintain case calendars, track critical deadlines, and manage client files within case management systems.
- Coordinate certified translations and organize client evidentiary documentation.
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding document collection and case updates.
