Requirements
- 3–5+ years of experience in collections strategy, recoveries, or credit risk management at a consumer lender, bank, fintech, or credit card company.
- Deep knowledge of the consumer collections lifecycle from early delinquency through to post-charge-off recovery.
- Hands-on experience designing contact strategies, payment arrangement programs, and settlement frameworks.
- Experience managing and setting performance standards for BPO vendors.
- Strong analytical skills, including experience with financial modeling, cohort analysis, and cost-benefit frameworks.
- SQL proficiency.
- Familiarity with Canadian consumer protection and debt collection regulations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present analytical findings to senior leadership.
- Experience with digital-first collections channels (nice to have).
- Background in IFRS 9 provisioning (nice to have).
- Experience designing customer hardship or financial wellness programs (nice to have).
Responsibilities
- Own the monitoring and analysis of delinquency and loss trends including roll rates, cure rates, and vintage performance.
- Design and optimize contact strategies across multiple channels including email, push, SMS, and voice.
- Develop payment arrangement programs such as hardship plans and settlement offers to balance loss reduction with customer relief.
- Manage third-party collections partners (BPOs) by setting performance standards, escalation frameworks, and quality scorecards.
- Develop post-charge-off recovery strategies and customer rehabilitation (win-back) programs.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to enhance digital nudge capabilities for repayment.
- Build financial models to assess the value of recovery treatments and expected recovery rates.
