Requirements

  • 7 to 10 years in operations or management leadership, including time in a #2 role.
  • Proven track record of organizational strategy development and execution.
  • Strong financial fluency in nonprofit budgets, cash flow, and reporting.
  • Experience managing national virtual teams and building processes in remote environments.
  • Excellent project management skills for complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to build trust and influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to deliver candid feedback and make decisions.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in nonprofit management, public policy, or business preferred.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, project management tools (e.g., Asana), and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Experience with virtual operations tools like Slack, Zoom, Expensify, and NetSuite.

Responsibilities

  • Translate the CEO’s vision into operating plans and monitor strategic priorities.
  • Oversee finance, operations, technology, HR, and evaluation functions.
  • Serve as a trusted thought partner and proxy for the CEO to optimize his time and focus.
  • Lead and coach the senior leadership team to ensure departmental alignment.
  • Manage cross-functional initiatives and maintain organizational dashboards/KPIs.
  • Facilitate organizational culture, team development, and recruitment efforts.
  • Coordinate two annual in-person staff retreats and support ongoing team effectiveness.
