- 12+ years of relevant preclinical and/or translational sciences experience; 4+ years of management experience
Requirements
- PhD, MD/PhD, or MD degree in Biological Sciences or a related discipline.
- 12+ years of relevant preclinical and/or translational sciences experience in the Biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
- 4+ years of management experience.
- Demonstrated experience with preclinical, translational, and clinical R&D.
- Prior leadership experience within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry or academic medical centers.
- Strong team leadership skills with experience operating in a matrixed organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting to executive leadership.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple activities in parallel.
- Experience managing and building effective working relationships with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to travel 5-10% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Set, communicate, and drive strategy for Translational products in alignment with organizational goals.
- Prioritize and allocate resources to meet portfolio needs.
- Lead decision-making regarding indications, targets, and product progression from concept through Phase 1-2 clinical testing.
- Design and implement comprehensive pharmacology studies to address preclinical exposure and generate GLP toxicology and bio-distribution packages for IND filings.
- Manage budgets, headcounts, and externally facing in vivo studies with CROs and academic centers.
- Represent the function internally and externally, including interactions with rare disease advocacy groups and regulatory bodies.
- Mentor team members and build technical capabilities within the group.
