Requirements

- Advanced knowledge of medical professional and outpatient facility coding.
- Advanced medical terminology knowledge.
- Advanced critical thinking skills.
- Advanced knowledge of compliance, rules, and regulatory requirements.
- Professional certification: CCA, CCS, CCS-P, COC, CPC, RHIA, or RHIT.
Responsibilities
- Develop efficient workflows to organize and prioritize complex coding work ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Utilize designated coding classification systems and guidelines to ensure accurate code selection.
- Identify documentation gaps or inconsistencies and initiate queries to clarify documentation.
- Provide guidance and support to coding staff on complex coding scenarios and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on changes in coding regulations and guidelines to maintain subject matter expertise.
