Requirements
- J.D. degree or equivalent from an accredited law school.
- J.D. or M.S. in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or other related biological field.
- Admission to at least one U.S. state bar.
- Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
- 14+ years of patent prosecution experience as an attorney in the life sciences/biopharma field.
- Experience in-house at a publicly traded, commercial-stage biotechnology or pharmaceutical company.
- Strong knowledge of patent, trade secret, and trademark laws and practices.
- Experience managing outside IP counsel and non-attorney legal staff.
- Demonstrated expertise in drug development and genetic medicines is strongly preferred.
- Experience counseling R&D and CMC teams on contracts and strategic transactions is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine intellectual property strategy for 4DMT products and platforms.
- Manage the company's patent, trade secret, and trademark portfolio, including lifecycle management.
- Direct outside counsel in patent prosecution, trademark registration, and global patentability evaluations.
- Collaborate with R&D and CMC teams to identify and develop patentable intellectual property.
- Manage patentability, freedom-to-operate, infringement, and validity analyses.
- Support and manage IP disputes, administrative proceedings, and due diligence for business development.
- Draft, review, and negotiate R&D and CMC-related agreements, including NDAs, MTAs, and licenses.
