Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 15+ years of experience handling Commercial General Liability (GL) construction claims.
  • Experience managing construction GL claims under wrap‑up programs (OCIP/CCIP).
  • Extensive litigation experience on construction GL matters, including working with defense counsel.
  • Active property and casualty adjuster license (or ability to obtain within required timeframe).
  • Strong understanding of the claim adjustment process, scope, exposure, and reserving.
  • Solid understanding of financial and reserving concepts as applied to claim evaluation.
  • Proven negotiation skills resolving complex bodily injury and property damage claims.
  • Advanced technical expertise in construction GL insurance principles and practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic claims systems.
  • Professional insurance designations (CPCU, AIC, ARM, and/or CRIS) are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight of the general liability claims portfolio, ensuring alignment with client objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for complex construction-related GL claims, including third-party bodily injury and completed operations exposures.
  • Implement and oversee comprehensive claims management protocols by coordinating with insurers, TPAs, defense counsel, and vendors.
  • Confirm coverage applicability through detailed review of insurance policies, contracts, and supporting documentation.
  • Drive proactive risk transfer by ensuring proper contractual risk allocation and timely tender to responsible parties.
  • Lead coverage and claims advocacy when challenging carrier denials or reservations of rights.
  • Prepare claim summaries, coverage analyses, and management reports to support internal and client-facing decision-making.
  • Influence claim resolution strategies and provide oversight of settlement execution.
  • Ensure effective claim and litigation cost management practices.
  • Actively participate in claim reviews to ensure timely and cost-effective outcomes.
