Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; additional experience in healthcare, finance, or customer service strongly preferred.
- At least 6 months of experience in a customer service or healthcare-related environment.
- Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to explain complex financial or insurance concepts clearly.
- Comfortable working with computer systems including Windows, Excel, and web-based platforms for documentation and reporting.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, insurance processes, or revenue cycle functions is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
- High level of empathy, professionalism, and customer service orientation when working with patients in sensitive situations.
Responsibilities
- Support patients across outpatient, inpatient, and surgical care settings by explaining insurance coverage, benefits, and financial responsibilities in a clear and accessible way.
- Assess patient financial situations and determine eligibility for government and non-government assistance programs, including Medicaid, charity care, and other financial support options.
- Guide patients through financial assistance applications, collecting required documentation and ensuring completeness and accuracy of submissions.
- Create patient cost estimates, collect deposits, and establish structured payment plans aligned with organizational policies.
- Collaborate with clinical teams, revenue cycle staff, and administrative leadership to support discharge planning and continuity of care when financial concerns arise.
- Maintain accurate records across multiple systems while ensuring timely updates, documentation integrity, and compliance with internal processes.
- Deliver high-quality customer service while managing sensitive financial conversations with professionalism and empathy.
