Requirements
- BSc in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field with a focus on ship operations.
- Class 4 Certificate of Competency (CoC) or 2nd Mate Certificate of Competency (CoC) or above.
- 5-10 years of experience with ship mechanics, systems, hydrodynamics, power generation, and propulsion.
- 2+ years of onshore experience in vessel performance monitoring, voyage operations, and emission tracking.
- Ability to analyze industry-relevant datasets and translate them for software development teams.
- Clear communication skills for stakeholders ranging from C-Suite to operational teams.
- Experience with various vessel types, trades, and chartering patterns is preferred.
- Prior knowledge of commercial ship operations, chartering, and management processes is preferred.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps and software development workflows is preferred.
- Familiarity with data visualization techniques is preferred.
- Technical skills in coding (SQL, Python, etc.) is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Support Product Owners, Product Managers, and development teams in delivering software applications for vessel performance and voyage management.
- Identify and translate vessel data sources, such as LLI/AIS, noon reports, and sensor data, into fleet-aggregated insights.
- Provide domain expertise on industry standards including MARPOL, ISO, EU ETS, and IMO guidelines.
- Collaborate with customer-facing teams to explain calculation requirements and data-driven insights to clients.
- Research industry methodologies to inform product features and support the development of predictive forecasting models.
- Ensure technical standards for calculations are met and identify new data sources to improve product features.
