Requirements
- Advanced proficiency in software development
- Experience building and shaping large systems in complex business domains
- Experience building robust systems where the product is high-quality data
- Ability to speak the language of analysts and data scientists
- Demonstrable leadership skills and experience mentoring juniors
- Experience using AI (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) in daily workflow
- Strong numerical or technical background (e.g., degree in physics, engineering, maths, or CS)
- Experience building/maintaining analytics systems
- Experience with Python, Snowflake, or PostgreSQL
- Experience with feature-management systems or event-sourced data models
Responsibilities
- Lead four engineers working on the modelling platform and surrounding systems
- Raise engineering standards with a focus on reliability, observability, and reproducibility
- Set technical direction by identifying the right problems to solve
- Stay hands-on in the codebase to solve complex, ambiguous, or ownerless problems
- Balance technical rigour with speed of delivery
- Maintain the feedback loop between analysis, strategy, and engineering
