Requirements

MS or PhD in materials science, chemistry, physics, or related field.
3+ years of full-time R&D experience at a Fortune 500 company, national lab, or R1 university.
Background in metals, polymers, ceramics, composites, or semiconductors.
Experience with characterization techniques: XRD, SEM/TEM, spectroscopy, thermal analysis.
Expertise in computational materials science: DFT or MD.
Experience with process development and scale-up.
Knowledge of reliability and failure analysis in advanced materials.
Day-to-day proficiency with VASP, Materials Studio, LabVantage/LabWare LIMS, and ANSYS Fluent/STAR-CCM+.
Strong analytical thinking and writing skills for translating workflows into task specs.

Responsibilities

Build a realistic digital workspace centered on daily workflow tools and files.
Represent platforms like VASP, Materials Studio, LabVantage LIMS, and ANSYS Fluent in task scenarios.
Design multi-step tasks that require navigating multiple apps and files to challenge frontier AI agents.
Collaborate with other experts to design the environment and shape task scope.
Review task scenarios for realism and technical rigor.
Work asynchronously with research teams to refine task designs and evaluation criteria.
Contribute to frontier AI research and benchmarking.
