Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) and active license to practice law in the United States
  • 8+ years of experience in employee benefits law
  • Strong focus on regulatory and compliance matters
  • Deep knowledge of health and welfare benefit regulations (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, MHPAEA)
  • Ability to interpret complex legal language and translate into actionable guidance
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-starter mindset with strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder management abilities

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and analyze complex federal regulations governing health and welfare benefit plans
  • Support the development and execution of regulatory and legislative strategy
  • Monitor and assess new and emerging laws and regulations
  • Respond to daily inquiries from internal teams regarding compliance matters
  • Contribute to the creation of compliance tools, thought leadership content, guides, and client-facing educational materials
  • Deliver presentations and training sessions on employee benefits compliance topics
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including actuarial, pharmacy, wellness, operations, marketing, and communications
  • Support and evaluate third-party vendor partnerships
  • Assist in managing shared resources and knowledge distribution
