Requirements
- Current AAPC or AHIMA Certification for a minimum of 3 years.
- Minimum of 3+ years of professional coding experience.
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with anatomy, physiology, and Medicare reimbursement guidelines.
- Ability to research and resolve coding or documentation issues.
- Experience in a medical billing environment with HIPAA compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Independently review and resolve assigned front-end claim holds.
- Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes with appropriate modifiers for professional fee services.
- Review medical records to determine accurate diagnosis and procedure codes.
- Ensure diagnosis codes meet local and national medical necessity guidelines.
- Follow HIPAA regulations and maintain data privacy.
- Maintain current knowledge of coding laws, regulations, and payer policies.
- Participate in team meetings and mentorship sessions.
- Escalate coding questions and client trends to the Coding Team Lead.
