Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting or brokerage
- Experience in both wholesale and/or retail brokerage settings
- Active Property & Casualty license
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, or related field preferred
- Professional designations (e.g., TRS, CIC, CPCU, AU) strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of agency management systems (e.g., AMS360, IMS) a plus
- Strong analytical, communication, and time-management skills
Responsibilities
- Evaluate new and renewal commercial trucking accounts—up to 40 per week—with premiums ranging from $10,000 to $100,000
- Analyze risk by utilizing loss runs, MVRs, CAB reports, FMCSA data, and other relevant underwriting materials
- Make eligibility and pricing recommendations in alignment with underwriting guidelines and carrier appetites
- Prepare comprehensive market submissions, quote proposals, and/or coverage comparisons
- Communicate effectively with retail agents and internal stakeholders to gather complete and accurate risk data
- Negotiate with carriers to secure competitive terms
- Track performance of bound accounts to identify profitability issues or loss trends
- Address billing, endorsement, cancellation, and invoicing issues
