Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
- Current, unrestricted medical license in good standing.
- Board certification in an applicable specialty (e.g., Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine).
- 7+ years of clinical practice experience.
- 3–5 years in a health plan, population health, accountable care, or value-based care setting.
- Demonstrated experience with population health management and high-cost claimant oversight.
- Prior leadership experience in a medical director role is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of risk stratification, targeted interventions, and clinical governance.
- Ability to interpret analytics and data-driven clinical information.
- Strong stakeholder communication and change management skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide physician leadership for population health priorities across lines of business.
- Ensure clinical appropriateness of risk stratification and intervention approaches.
- Oversee high-cost claimants and stop-loss reporting for contractual or audit needs.
- Serve as the physician escalation point for complex or clinically ambiguous cases.
- Define criteria for physician involvement to focus on high-impact scenarios.
- Identify and eliminate low-value physician work through automation and protocol refinement.
- Participate in cross-functional forums to set population health strategies.
- Collaborate with clinical operations, care management, and analytics teams.
