Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management or Technical Program Management within fintech, brokerage, or financial infrastructure
  • Deep knowledge of US brokerage tax reporting, including 1099 forms, cost basis rules, wash sales, and IRS requirements
  • Hands-on experience managing at least one full tax season in a broker-dealer or clearing environment
  • Strong experience managing third-party vendors and enforcing SLAs
  • Ability to translate complex tax and regulatory requirements into technical product specifications
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills across Engineering, Compliance, Operations, and Legal teams
  • Technical fluency with data systems, file formats, and reconciliation processes (e.g., IRS FIRE formats)
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage high-stakes deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Experience with automation, reconciliation systems, or tax technology platforms is a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end tax product roadmap, including IRS reporting (1099-B, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-MISC, 1042-S) and related compliance processes
  • Define product timelines, quality gates, and acceptance criteria to ensure accurate and timely tax filings
  • Manage relationships with external tax technology and data vendors, ensuring performance and SLA adherence
  • Build and coordinate the cross-functional tax season calendar across Engineering, Operations, and Compliance teams
  • Ensure tax systems scale effectively for new asset classes, account structures, and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with engineering teams to design upstream data flows that support accurate tax reporting from the source
  • Define data architecture requirements for tax-related fields, including income types, account rules, and entity structures
  • Design and implement monitoring dashboards and internal tools for real-time visibility into tax reporting status and errors
  • Identify gaps in current tax infrastructure and proactively drive system and process improvements
  • Ensure alignment across stakeholders to meet strict regulatory deadlines and reduce operational risk
