Requirements
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering roles, including leadership of complex technical projects and engineering teams.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Python, SQL, and distributed data processing frameworks such as Spark.
- Extensive experience with Azure, Databricks, and modern enterprise cloud environments.
- Deep understanding of data modeling, lakehouse architectures, and modern data warehousing concepts.
- Experience with orchestration and workflow tools such as Airflow or Azure Data Factory.
- Strong knowledge of DevOps/DataOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Solid understanding of data governance, security, quality management, and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership capabilities.
- Experience in consulting or client-facing environments is highly valued.
- Familiarity with modern analytics stacks, MLOps, or machine learning pipelines is a plus.
- Fluent in English; Dutch language skills are considered an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of scalable cloud-native data platforms using technologies such as Azure and Databricks.
- Oversee the implementation of high-performance batch and real-time data pipelines with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and security.
- Act as a technical authority across client engagements, guiding engineering decisions and best practices.
- Mentor, lead, and grow teams of data engineers while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and engineering excellence.
- Define standards for data modeling, governance, testing, monitoring, and documentation.
- Collaborate with clients and senior stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions and strategic roadmaps.
- Contribute to the development of reusable frameworks, accelerators, and modern data engineering methodologies.
- Drive adoption of DevOps/DataOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Support pre-sales activities, technical proposals, and the strategic growth of the data engineering practice.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, governance, and regulatory standards such as GDPR.
