Requirements

  • At least two years of experience as a legal assistant or law clerk.
  • Holds a law degree (or equivalent) from their home country.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a paralegal in a U.S. immigration law firm.
  • Proficiency in legal software like Clio or MyCase (preferred).
  • Bilingual in English (C1 or higher) and Spanish, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects.
  • Familiarity with immigration-specific databases and software.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration procedures, visa types, and forms.
  • Permanently resides in Latin America.
  • Owns a reliable laptop (Windows or Mac, 2017 or newer) with a stable internet connection.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare immigration-related legal documents, including visa petitions, affidavits, appeals, and motions.
  • Submit immigration petitions and applications to relevant agencies, meeting all deadlines.
  • Conduct legal research on immigration laws, regulations, and case precedents.
  • Communicate with clients in English and Spanish, addressing inquiries and providing updates.
  • Maintain organized case files and accurate documentation for immigration cases.
  • Prepare and review immigration forms for visas and other processes.
  • Support attorneys with administrative tasks related to immigration cases.
  • Track visa deadlines and case progress, keeping attorneys informed.
