  • Minimum 5 years of professional accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a tax compliance or financial accounting role.
  • Experience with multi-state tax compliance and interstate business operations.
  • Familiarity with accounting software platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite) and financial analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with IT budget planning and technology cost management.
  • Strong knowledge of sales tax, payroll tax, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Experience working with small to mid-sized organizations (SMBs) or professional services firms.
  • Proactive approach to process automation and continuous improvement.
  • Experience managing client relationships and external stakeholder communications.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) OR Certified Management Accountant (CMA) OR Enrolled Agent (EA) — IRS certification for tax representation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, file, and maintain all federal and state tax returns, including corporate income tax, payroll tax, and sales tax filings.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with changing tax regulations, deadlines, and requirements across all relevant jurisdictions.
  • Manage state registrations, licenses, and periodic filings required for business operations and corporate good standing.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers and regulatory agencies to maintain, file, and renew all necessary insurance registrations and compliance documentation.
  • Oversee accounts receivable collections, including aging analysis, client follow-up, and resolution of outstanding invoices.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to leadership, highlighting key metrics, trends, and variances from projections.
  • Reconcile accounts, verify transaction accuracy, and maintain detailed financial records in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Support internal IT budget planning, analysis, and forecasting to optimize technology spending and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with external auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory agencies to address inquiries and provide required documentation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of financial and tax-related functions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and tax information in accordance with company policies and applicable law.
  • Stay current with tax law changes, accounting standards, and best practices through ongoing professional development and industry participation.
