Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 4+ years of people management
- Ideally within entertainment, consumer electronics, e-commerce, or hardware businesses & early stage startup experience
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, debits and credits, with an emphasis on ASC 606 and ASC 340-40
- Advanced Excel and data skills with ability to analyze and reconcile large data sets
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, including NetSuite ARM preferred)
- Experience with accounting software systems such as Blackline and FloQast (bonus)
- Familiarity with Stripe, POSA/Gift Cards, Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, and various retailer sales and fulfillment systems
- Experience with royalty contracts and calculations within the consumer media and entertainment industry
- Previous experience managing the design and implementation of sales data automation solutions
- Demonstrated track record of process improvement and building scalable accounting operations
- Exceptional attention to detail, ability to work independently, ownership mentality
- Ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment
- Prior experience managing or preparing for external audits in a high-growth company
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the month-end revenue and royalties close process, coordinating with internal teams and outsourced accounting advisors.
- Own Technical Revenue Accounting policy and procedure, ensuring revenue recognition models comply with ASC 606.
- Continuously monitor company activities to ensure company revenue policy keeps pace with growth.
- Review complex balance sheet reconciliations, including accounts receivable, deferred revenue, accrued royalties and any associated prepaids.
- Prepare and manage audit support for assigned areas, developing audit-ready schedules and responding to auditor requests.
- Drive improvements to accounting processes, systems and data workflows, leveraging Excel, AI tools, Power Query, and automation or BI tools.
- Explore and make recommendations on systems solutions to automate and scale revenue recognition, royalty calculations and partner reporting.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with FinOps, Supply Chain, and Fulfillment teams to validate revenue accounting data flows.
- Assist with the implementation and optimization of ERP and business systems to support scalable revenue accounting processes.
