General Counsel

10+ years practicing law with law firm and in-house experience. J.D. from an accredited institution. Admitted to practice law in California or New York. Foundational training at a national law firm (preferably Am Law 200). Technology industry experience. General Counsel with start-up experience preferred, or Deputy General Counsel from larger tech companies. Proven experience building and leading teams in high-growth environments. Strong track record of positive outcomes for managed employees. Advanced knowledge of trademark and copyright, advertising, privacy and data use issues. Able to learn quickly and lead teams. Excellent communication and project management skills. Proven ability to develop positive and collaborative relationships. Valid membership in a state bar. Fintech/regulatory environment experience a plus. Ability to give practical advice and break down complex issues. Knowledge of employment laws. Litigation experience. Public Company experience a plus. Self-starter comfortable working independently.

Counsel on strategic legal advice across general corporate, corporate governance, commercial contracts, data privacy and security, intellectual property, employment, litigation and risk management. Build the internal legal function by developing a roadmap for team growth and scaling systems/processes. Manage, draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts. Improve forms, processes, and systems. Provide continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters. Select, retain, and manage outside counsel. Prepare and deliver training on legal and compliance matters. Build, mentor, manage, and scale teams. Engage in varied tasks within a small team environment.
