Engineering Manager, Product Architecture

2+ years of experience managing software engineering teams. 9+ years of total experience in software engineering roles. Strong foundation in software engineering fundamentals, including system design and distributed systems. Experience leading teams through architectural modernization. Experience building and operating Kotlin/JVM backend services. Experience designing and operating event-driven architectures. Experience operating cloud-native systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Exposure to frontend systems using React and Web Components. Understanding of agile principles. Proven ability to mentor engineers. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Servant-leader mindset.

Directly manage 5 to 8 software engineers. Coach and mentor engineers. Build a culture of ownership, reliability, and continuous improvement. Own the technical direction and architectural health of software platform systems. Guide teams through building services, microservices, and UIs. Lead the transition to Kotlin-based backend services. Ensure services are scalable, observable, secure, and resilient. Guide the design of event-driven systems and service integrations. Partner with principal engineers on cross-domain architecture. Review and contribute to technical design documents. Translate platform and internal needs into technical roadmaps. Balance delivery of new capabilities with reliability and technical debt reduction. Own operational outcomes including availability and incident response. Work closely with internal stakeholders. Coordinate with data producers and consumers. Collaborate with Data Engineering teams. Communicate technical decisions to stakeholders. Collaborate with peer Engineering Managers.
