Requirements:

  • Openness to feedback and self-awareness
  • Familiarity with office productivity tools (Microsoft Office, Zoom)
  • Experience managing social media strategy for a mission-driven organization, public figure, brand, or campaign
  • Proven experience building social media accounts from scratch or scaling existing ones
  • Experience using analytics and performance metrics to create strategy
  • Demonstrated knowledge of video editing platforms (Canva, Vimeo, Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms (TikTok, X, Bluesky, Facebook)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of democracy issues
  • Managed at least one staff member, intern, and/or fellow
  • Willing to have a social media presence on behalf of Common Cause
  • Not currently in elected office, running for office, or affiliated with political party leadership
Responsibilities:
  • Lead strategic use of social media across the organization
  • Build and execute comprehensive social media strategy
  • Develop platform-specific strategies for major social channels
  • Oversee creation, publishing, and optimization of daily content
  • Maintain social media calendar tied to strategic campaigns and priorities
  • Transform complex policy topics into compelling digital stories
  • Proactively identify and adopt new social media trends and tools
  • Use data and analytics to guide strategy and optimize performance
  • Track, analyze, and report on social media performance
  • Partner with digital, communications, and development colleagues
  • Coordinate with state teams for cohesive national strategy
  • Create paid digital advertising campaigns
  • Supervise and develop Social Media Associates and Interns
  • Set expectations for content quality, timeliness, and creativity
  • Offer mentorship in strategy, storytelling, analytics, and collaboration
