Requirements:
Four-year college degree or equivalent experience. AU professional industry designation very highly preferred. At least 3+ years of multi-line commercial lines underwriting experience with an insurance carrier. Prior agency experience is a plus. Mastery of fundamental underwriting principles and basic commercial insurance coverage and rating knowledge. Ability to comprehend and leverage the underwriting process. Superior desk management and organizational skills. High level of customer responsiveness, self-starting, high-energy attitude. High professional standards with a bent for innovation. Comfortable and self-directed to work independently in a remote, virtual office environment. General knowledge of computer operating systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (OUTLOOK, WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT) and Office 365 highly desirable. Valid driver’s license required.
Responsibilities:
Support underwriting, pricing, file documentation, and policy processing for renewal accounts. Administer policy transactions including endorsements, audits, cancellations, and billing. Interface with agencies and internal staff via email and telephone. Support achievement of targeted financial objectives for renewal retention, loss ratio, and commission ratio. Perform risk selection, rating, and pricing of commercial lines accounts. Negotiate renewal pricing and complete risk analysis documentation. Identify account rounding opportunities and work with agency partners. Meet or exceed service goals. Confer with Account Executives and Production Underwriters on sensitive underwriting matters. Assist with execution of underwriting, agency management, and product marketing strategies. Maintain knowledge of the independent agency system. Maintain interpersonal skills and technical expertise. Liaise with Audit, Accounting, Claims, and service vendors. Perform miscellaneous tasks and projects as assigned.
