Requirements:
Proven experience leading senior ICs, defining goals, coaching, and running performance cycles. Confident running planning cycles, reviews, retrospectives, joint intake with Product Engineering. Skilled at writing crisp 1-pagers, decision memos, and RFCs. Able to articulate trade-offs and drive alignment across technical and business stakeholders. Set a compelling platform vision. Make pragmatic build-vs-buy and runtime choices. Deliver predictably and manage risks, dependencies, SLAs/OLAs. Establish visible metrics for reliability, cost, and developer experience. Depth in at least one major cloud provider. Strong grasp of containerization/orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), networking, scaling patterns, and security boundaries. Proficiency with IaC frameworks and policy/guardrail models. Experience building Git-driven workflows and creating consistent, repeatable environments. Expertise in CI/CD design, progressive delivery (blue/green, canary), automated rollback. Comfortable with incident command, alert design, and maturing SLO/error-budget practices. Understanding of cloud cost levers and secure-by-default approaches. Track record of co-designing with Product Engineering, Security/IT, and Finance.
Responsibilities:
Take full end-to-end accountability for Platform Engineering strategy, outcomes, and execution. Define clear SLAs/SLOs for Product Engineering and drive aligned cross-team cadences. Build out Platform Ops, SRE, and Platform-as-a-Product streams. Scale the platform function from 2 to approximately 10 engineers. Run and harden the current cloud/runtime stack. Automate infrastructure, improve reliability, performance, and cost efficiency. Establish safe rollout/rollback patterns. Deliver best-in-class golden paths for developers. Own the vision and roadmap for Platform 2.0. Evaluate strategic choices for runtime/orchestrator adoption. Coordinate cross-functional architectural decisions. Strengthen end-to-end observability and incident management. Define cost guardrails and unit economics. Partner on identity/permissions, secrets management, and supply-chain security. Work closely with IT Support.
