6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including time as a technical lead or team lead. 1+ years of formal people management experience (or strong mentorship track record with a desire to grow in management). A builder’s mindset: experience delivering high-impact projects end-to-end, with deep ownership of quality and outcomes. Strong technical foundation in modern backend or full-stack development (e.g., Ruby, Go, TypeScript). Excellent communicator: able to drive alignment across engineers, product managers, and stakeholders. Experience fostering inclusive, growth-oriented team environments where people do their best work.

Manage 4-7 engineers, providing mentorship, feedback, and career growth while maintaining high delivery standards. Architect systems, review code, and contribute directly to features, infrastructure, or tools when it makes sense to unblock the team or accelerate progress. Translate business goals into actionable plans. Lead sprint planning, scope work, and remove obstacles to keep projects moving. Set the bar for quality, scalability, and maintainability.
