Senior Staff Attorney Insurance Defense

Minimum of 7 years of legal practice experience handling tort defense cases JD from accredited law school License to practice in the state of Texas First-chair jury trial experience Positive-minded and collaborative team-player attitude Strong legal research and writing skills Solid MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook) Lexis Nexis experience a plus Self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritization skills Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software

Independent handling of insurance defense docket Analyze complex legal and factual issues Create and present defense strategies Prepare pleadings, discovery, motions, and briefs Attend hearings, court appearances, depositions, and trials Partner with Claims Partners Provide effective and timely communications and legal advice Communicate with court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel Facilitate prompt, efficient, and effective disposition of cases Prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, hearings, arbitrations, and ADR Research, draft, file, and argue substantive motions Provide in-house training to junior associates and/or claims partners Attend continuing legal education seminars
