Requirements
- Have 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
- Have experience using backend languages such as Python or Kotlin.
- Have a track record of developing highly available distributed systems.
- Have experience with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Have experience scaling relevant technologies such as Iceberg, Flink, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, and Terraform.
- Have experience defining a technical plan for a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple, and extensible design.
- Write high-quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
- Be proficient at making significant changes in a large codebase and developing tools and practices that enable safe changes.
- Have equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Responsibilities
- Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team, leading engineers through ambiguity and supporting them throughout delivery.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during ideation and product development.
- Articulate technical constraints and partner on decisions that account for risks and trade-offs.
- Identify project, process, technology, and business issues, and lead efforts to resolve them.
- Create and monitor metrics, escalate when needed, and support operations, availability, and on-call efforts.
- Set or improve code review and design standards, and advocate for them through writing and tech talks.
- Provide feedback and guidance to develop talent on the team.
