Requirements
- Have 9+ years of relevant software development experience in a fast-paced tech environment, or 7+ years with an advanced degree.
- Bring expertise in backend systems in large-scale, service-oriented architectures.
- Have real-world experience with at least one of Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, or a similar language.
- Have experience designing multi-region or multi-tenant platforms with configurable, rules-driven behavior.
- Have experience with A/B testing and experimentation systems and using data to improve conversion or attach rates.
- Be proficient in designing and operating high-performance systems with reliable monitoring and logging.
- Have working knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
- Demonstrate hands-on technical leadership across multiple teams.
- Hold a bachelor's degree or have equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in insurance, payments, fintech, or another regulated domain is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design architecture that supports expanding AirCover to new regions and products without rebuilding for each market.
- Lead the design of experimentation systems for insurance offers, pricing, and placement.
- Lead engineers across teams in building solutions and own significant technical scope.
- Partner with product managers, designers, data scientists, and legal partners to shape requirements and engineering decisions.
- Set technical quality standards through design, code review, and production operations.
- Mentor engineers and drive collaboration across multiple teams.
- Write and review designs and code for high-availability distributed backend services.
- Analyze data to identify conversion and coverage gaps and turn findings into product and platform changes.
