Requirements
- Have 2+ years of professional software engineering experience building production backend services.
- Be proficient in Go or strongly motivated to ramp up quickly; Go is the team's primary language.
- Understand REST API design principles and HTTP semantics.
- Be able to reason about service reliability, including latency, error rates, retry behavior, and circuit breaking.
- Be comfortable deploying and debugging in Kubernetes-based environments and understanding service interactions.
- Have experience with containerized development workflows using Docker.
- Be familiar with API authentication patterns, including OAuth 2.0, API keys, and JWT.
- Write readable code with clear naming, small functions, and meaningful tests.
- Communicate blockers early and ask for help when needed.
- Be comfortable working asynchronously across a distributed team.
- API gateway technology experience such as Kong, Envoy, NGINX, or cloud-native equivalents is a plus.
- Exposure to service mesh architectures such as Istio or Linkerd is a plus.
- Cybersecurity experience, APIs for security tools, or gRPC and protobuf-defined service contracts are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain API endpoints, middleware, and platform services in Go.
- Build and evolve the API gateway, including routing, authentication, rate limiting, and request/response shaping.
- Write and maintain OpenAPI and gRPC API contracts, and communicate breaking changes to internal consumers.
- Contribute to monitoring, alerting, SLA tracking, and incident response for platform APIs.
- Write clear, reviewable code with tests covering successful and failure scenarios.
- Collaborate with the Data Ingestion, Integrations Platform, and Client Platform teams that consume the APIs.
