10+ years of backend engineering experience.
Strong focus on computation, performance, database or storage optimization, and systems architecture.
Experience with parallel execution strategies and caching strategies.
Understand the trade-offs involved in remote data warehouse computation.
Strong systems thinking and sound intuitions around storage, database performance, algorithms, and data structures.
Track record solving difficult, large-scale systems design problems involving significant data and operational complexity.
Experience writing code and reviewing teammates' code.
Ability to develop well-reasoned technical solutions from abstract problems and roadmap designs with clear milestones.
Python and/or TypeScript required; experience with both is a plus.
Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud infrastructure is a plus.

Evolve the graph-based system that compiles, plans, and runs user notebooks.
Propose and build compute components that support faster, smarter execution.
Drive parallel execution strategies and caching approaches to reduce latency and unnecessary round trips to external data warehouses.
Instrument complex systems to surface and diagnose performance problems.
Collaborate across engineering and product on platform capabilities, including an internal query language that compiles to connected warehouse dialects.
Author and review technical proposals and mentor engineers implementing designs.
Propose and roadmap long-term designs with clear milestones across quarters.
