Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive experience in compliance, privacy, or regulatory legal roles.
- Deep working knowledge of Canadian consumer protection, retail banking or payments, and privacy legislation.
- Proven experience building or substantially maturing a privacy program or regulatory change program.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing and developing teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex reasoning clearly.
- Experience in regulated fintech, neobanks, or direct-to-consumer financial institutions.
- Relevant professional designation such as CIPP/C, CAMS, CRCM, or LL.B/JD is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely, practical, risk-based compliance guidance to Product, Marketing, and Technology teams.
- Own the regulatory advisory and interpretation function, providing clear, written positions for internal stakeholders.
- Manage the regulatory compliance management program, including horizon scanning and impact assessment.
- Oversee the enterprise privacy program, including Privacy Impact Assessments and consent design.
- Lead privacy incident and breach response coordination, including regulatory notifications.
- Direct the Whistleblower and Ethics programs, including investigation oversight.
- Apply AI, automation, and analytics to advisory intake, regulatory scanning, and privacy assessments.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of compliance and privacy professionals.
