Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. degree.
- Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency.
- Active, unrestricted Texas medical license.
- Board certification or board eligibility in psychiatry.
- Active, unrestricted DEA registration.
- Professional experience delivering psychiatric care through telehealth.
- Experience managing, supervising, or mentoring advanced practice providers (APPs).
- Experience prescribing Schedule II and Schedule IV controlled substances.
- Experience working in community mental health or with complex patient populations.
- Demonstrated ability to develop clear, evidence-based treatment plans.
- Willingness to obtain additional state medical licenses as requested.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed psychiatric intake assessments covering symptoms, history, and safety risks.
- Establish clear diagnoses and develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
- Transition stable patients to PMHNP-led care with clinically actionable handoffs.
- Maintain a small caseload for patients requiring psychiatrist-level follow-up.
- Serve as a clinical resource for APPs regarding medication, safety, and acuity.
- Prescribe medications via telehealth in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Provide mentorship and clinical leadership to PMHNPs and other APPs.
- Complete timely documentation and participate in quality improvement case reviews.
