Requirements
- 7+ years of frontline fundraising experience or comparable sales/business-development experience.
- Proven track record of closing six- and seven-figure deals.
- Experience building new donor portfolios in growth-stage or start-up environments.
- Experience working in or alongside scientific, research, or technical organizations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including pitch and grant proposal creation.
- Proficiency with CRM systems such as Virtuous, Salesforce, or similar.
- Ability to coach others on effective communications in fundraising environments.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple relationships simultaneously.
- Rigorous attention to detail and ability to absorb large volumes of technical context.
- Genuine interest in climate philanthropy and climate intervention science.
- Ability to travel approximately 25-30% of the time for meetings and conferences.
Responsibilities
- Attend funder meetings alongside executive leadership and program leads to identify and drive next steps.
- Coach program directors on effective communication and donor engagement strategies.
- Coordinate funder strategy across programs by mapping funders and sequencing appropriate asks.
- Close funding opportunities by managing grant proposal steps, timelines, and donor perspectives.
- Steward individual funder relationships by matching research and communication products to donor interests.
- Translate complex scientific research into compelling philanthropic narratives in collaboration with subject matter experts.
- Prepare high-quality materials including briefings, proposals, and stewardship reports.
- Represent the organization at field convenings, donor events, and conferences.
- Maintain CRM hygiene and contribute to pipeline forecasting and reporting.
