Requirements
- 8 years of experience in software design and development.
- 2 years of experience in an engineering leadership role and in people management.
- Demonstrated ability to make technical decisions regarding system design, performance, and scalability.
- Polyglot programming ability with familiarity in high-performance systems languages such as Python, Go, or Rust.
- Proven track record of working with disparate teams, resolving conflicts, and communicating transparently.
- Strong attention to detail focused on reliability, security, and continuous improvement.
- Understanding of open source ecosystem and community engagement (preferred).
- Understanding of trust and safety field and prior professional experience (preferred).
- Experience working in startups, nonprofits, or small team environments (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute on short-term and long-term engineering team strategies to deliver the project roadmap.
- Manage and mentor on-staff and community contributors to foster a positive, high-quality development culture.
- Drive the software development lifecycle, including CI/CD, performance, security, and testing practices.
- Make hands-on contributions through feature development and bug fixes while guiding overall system architecture.
- Collaborate with the Director of Product, the Technical Design Committee, and external stakeholders to define project priorities.
- Define and measure engineering effectiveness to identify and implement areas for improvement.
- Proactively research and integrate advancements in AI and trust and safety domains into development strategies.
