Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent practical experience.
7-10 years of professional experience in accounting or finance.
Strong command of US GAAP and Uniform Guidance.
Experience with multi-country/multi-entity accounting and consolidations.
Experience working in audit environments and managing external auditors.
Professional qualification (ACCA or CPA) preferred.
Advanced spreadsheet skills.
Proficiency in English.
Ability to work remotely on the East Coast with a 3-hour East Africa timezone overlap.
Travel requirement: ~1-2 times per year to operational countries.

Responsibilities

Lead key elements of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and clear documentation.
Oversee revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP, including reviewing monthly entries and reconciliations.
Create periodic financial reports including balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and management reports.
Maintain general ledger integrity, enforcing coding structures and review processes.
Ensure expenditures comply with donor requirements, regulatory standards, and internal policies.
Manage the annual financial statement audit and Single Audit.
Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, including form 990.
Act as a key liaison between auditors and internal teams.
