Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in education, public policy, or a related field preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in a senior leadership, government relations, education policy, or related role.
  • Strong knowledge of education policy, state government operations, and public-sector decision-making processes.
  • Experience working with state education agencies, policy initiatives, funding programs, or regulatory guidance preferred.
  • Established relationships and networks with state Department of Education stakeholders preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and balance competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and interpret insights from multiple sources.
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote-first environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic state relations plans that increase organizational visibility and support education-focused initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal business units, sales teams, and cross-functional partners to develop state-specific strategies and solutions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with state Department of Education officials and key education policy stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary connection between internal teams and state education agencies to facilitate communication and collaboration.
  • Secure meetings, presentations, and engagement opportunities with influential education leaders.
  • Consult with state stakeholders on education priorities, challenges, policy developments, and initiatives affecting students and educators.
  • Support state-level contract opportunities by providing policy insights and strategic guidance.
  • Identify education policies that may impact business objectives and develop strategies to address related challenges.
  • Monitor education policy trends and share relevant insights and best practices with internal teams.
  • Represent the organization at conferences, industry events, and partner engagements.
