Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or education/experience equivalency.
- Minimum of seven years leadership experience within a youth-serving or membership-based organization.
- Proven success collaborating with local Clubs, professional associations, members, boards, and staff.
- Experience engaging with state legislatures and government officials.
- Strong understanding of state funding structures, policy environments, and advocacy strategies.
- Experience supporting boards and implementing personnel management practices.
- Strong task management skills with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities across multiple states.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel approximately 45% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary State Government Relations lead providing strategic guidance and technical assistance to up to 11 State Alliances.
- Develop and lead multi-state advocacy and legislative strategies to influence youth policy and increase public funding.
- Build and sustain relationships with legislators, state officials, and key stakeholders.
- Lead the planning and execution of advocacy events like State Legislative Days and town halls.
- Support State Alliances in oversight, performance management of staff and lobbyists, and hiring processes.
- Monitor and analyze state and federal policy developments to provide actionable insights for advocacy.
- Manage public grant funding, including proposal development, compliance, and reporting.
- Strengthen Alliance governance and ensure operational alignment with organizational goals.
