Requirements
- Solid experience with a systems language (e.g., Go, Rust, C, C++, Python, Java).
- Experience building and operating distributed systems in production.
- Strong understanding of maintaining multi-tenant data systems at scale.
- Product-focused mindset with the ability to communicate directly with customers.
- Strong software craftsmanship in writing clean, robust, and performant code.
- Operational mindset with experience in SRE-style work or infrastructure as code.
- Pragmatic problem-solving ability to iterate through short feedback loops.
- Experience working in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.
- Clear communication and leadership through writing, reviews, and code.
- Ability to carry a pager and participate in on-call rotations.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects from concept to rollout including design, delivery, operations, and customer follow-up.
- Design, build, and operate core components of a distributed database such as ingestion, storage, and query.
- Translate customer pain points into manageable deliverables and directly shape the product roadmap.
- Drive operational excellence by owning outcomes against concrete SLOs and unit cost targets.
- Partner across Grafana engineering squads including App Observability, Alloy, and Tempo.
- Participate in on-call rotations and manage incident response.
- Contribute to open source by engaging the community and reviewing external contributions.
