Requirements
- 5-7 years of healthcare experience with knowledge of hospital operations and payment systems.
- Healthcare certification program (e.g., CPC, RHIT, or clinical certification).
- College degree (significant work experience may be considered in exchange).
- Understanding of Charge Description Master (CDM) methodology.
- Understanding of coding systems, financial management, and reporting.
- Experience with EMR, billing systems, and CDM tools such as Craneware or Code Correct.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and analytic tools.
- Ability to review, analyze, and prioritize healthcare regulatory updates.
- Proven ability to strategize and conduct education for various staff levels.
Responsibilities
- Oversee Chargemaster maintenance to ensure proper revenue generation and reimbursement.
- Manage processes for quarterly and annual CDM updates including tracking, review, and departmental communication.
- Analyze and identify root causes for charge edits, claim edits, and denials related to chargemaster settings.
- Collaborate with Revenue Integrity staff to strategize workflow and IT system changes.
- Implement charge strategy, coding, and workflow corrections to resolve compliance or reimbursement issues.
- Conduct education for departments regarding charging, coding, and billing errors.
- Participate in internal and external audits focused on charge capture or CDM issues.
- Prepare and present investigative reports using spreadsheets, billing systems, and the Epic system.
